Little-known-because-it's-slightly-creepy fact about me is that I really like to look in people's cupboards. Like I wouldn't introduce myself and after a 5 minute convo request to peek in your wardrobe, but I really like to know the clothes people I love, love, keep, hide and wear. So if you're a weirdo like me, keep reading because my closet is becoming confidential no longer.
What is the oldest item in your wardrobe?
Last year, I went to an 80s themed Christmas party and was on the look out for some typical 80s 'mum jeans'. I went to countless op shops and couldn't find anything suitable. Two days before the party, my own mum had a lightbulb moment, in which she located a pair of her old jeans which were exactly what I was after and they fitted like a glove! 5 months later, and I still wear the 30-year-old jeans on a weekly basis.
What is the newest item?
I really never used to like shoes all that much, but a week ago, I stumbled on these point toe flats from Novo and after trying them on, loved them. They're super versatile and perfect for pretty much any work outfit.
What is the most expensive item?
I tend to not splurge so much on clothing items at my current stage in life but occasionally you come across something that is worth the extra dosh. Staple pieces like white button-ups and comfy jeans, such as my High-waisted, skinny jeans from Jeans West, definitely fit this category. It's not every day you come across a pair of jeans that are comfy, long enough, high-waisted enough and the right colour.
What is the most affordable?
Going along the same lines as the previous, I buy lots of my clothes off the sale racks as I would rather spend on more essential items, so this one's a bit tricky! But saying this, I think this much loved skirt is one of the cheapest. I'm almost certain I paid 5 bucks for this from good ol' Cotton On!
What was the biggest bargain?
In April, I attended a wedding in Brisbane which I was quite unprepared for in terms of an outfit. With not much confidence that I would find a suitable dress, I was browsing the sale section of H&M and I saw this navy illusion maxi dress. Without even looking at the price tag, I tried it on and loved it...looked at the price tag and loved it even more! The once, $70 dress was down to $19.99 and was well within my last-minute-dress-budget.
What was the biggest waste of money?
After receiving my first post-school paycheck, I decided I would pay a little extra for a beautiful skirt I had been eyeing off for some time. Now don't get me wrong, the skirt IS really pretty, but my pre-uni waist did not factor in how unforgiving the waist band on this Dotti masterpiece would be some weeks down the track!
What are you 3 favourite items right now?
1. This Kmart rain jacket goes with so much and is perfect for the cooler, yet still more tropical, weather of Far North Queensland!
2. My plain old white tee from H&M is rather dull to read about but is super comfy and perfect for my rather basic, day-off style.
3. Flared sleeves have been all the rage for quite some time now and I'm all about dat 70s life! My striped, slightly cropped top from Dotti has been a major love of mine for a few months now and it ain't going away any time soon!
What is the most outrageous/colourful item that you absolutely love?
I like to keep my clothes pretty low-key and jazz them up with fun earrings or beads but I do have a soft spot for my flared culottes from (again...) Dotti.
What is your favourite piece that you've gotten as a gift?
A friend of mine just got back from 6 weeks in Europe (jealous!) but was kind enough to return with this beautiful Italian linen scarf. With the crisp mornings, this has been the perfect scarf to bring some toasty warmth (but not too bright...ew) to my days.
What is the most comfortable item?
Hoodies are the best amirite?! This is my James Cook Uni, Nursing Student Association hoodie which I adore, despite my recent un-enrolment from the course... It's just the cosiest thing ok?
What is the most uncomfortable item (but you would wear it anyway because you love it)?
I'm in love with this girly dress from Dotti (AGAIN) however the flimsy thing only works if you sit like the Queen herself! This will be my first and only wrap-around dress I purchase...
Where do you shop the most at?
Do I even need to answer this? Sportsgi...jks it's totally Dotti.
Clothes are fun! Shopping is fun! Outfits are fun!
Let me know if you think so too and would like to see more of this kinda thing.
Bec
P.S. Can confirm... I have spilt tea on like 85% of these items.
